Iyanu: New African Cartoon Series Premieres on Cartoon Network
The animated series “Iyanu: Child of Wonder” has officially premiered today, April 5, 2025, on Cartoon Network at 9:30 AM Eastern Standard Time. For viewers who prefer streaming, the series will be available on Max starting tomorrow, April 6.
Based on the graphic novel by Roye Okupe, “Iyanu: Child of Wonder” unfolds in a world inspired by Yoruba culture and mythology. The narrative centres on Iyanu, a teenage orphan who discovers she possesses extraordinary abilities reminiscent of ancient deities. As she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, Iyanu joins forces with friends Biyi and Toye to confront looming threats and uncover the mysteries of her past.
A notable aspect of the srieseriesits commitment to authenticity, featuring an all-African voice cast and music by Grammy-winning Afropop artist Yemi Alade. This dedication aims to provide viewers with a rich and immersive experience that honours Nigerian heritage.
The inaugural season comprises ten episodes, with new episodes scheduled to air weekly on Cartoon Network. Streaming availability on Max will follow each broadcast, ensuring audiences have flexible viewing options.

Mother of Nigerian singer, Asake revealed that he once rejected the opportunity to study abroad.
In a recent interview with Korty EO, the singer shared that it was against his father to pursue music. His mother then recalled how he came to turn them down on studying abroad and stated he wanted to stay and learn in Nigeria.
The singer studied performing arts at OAU.
