Jaywon Criticizes Odumodublvck for Disrespecting Industry Seniors

Afrobeats singer Jaywon has criticized rapper Odumodublvck for disrespecting his seniors in the music industry. Jaywon’s comments were in response to a post by Odumodublvck on X, where the rapper trolled him by comparing pictures of Ayra Starr posing closely with American rapper Future, while in another, she appeared distant from Jaywon, only holding his hand. Odumodublvck captioned the post with, “This life ehn,” hinting at the preferential treatment shown in the pictures.

In reaction, Jaywon wrote, “Lol, you’re already dragging your senior, who’s going to drag you? You haven’t even started life, and you’re already stepping on toes.”

In contrast, Odumodublvck recently expressed admiration for Rema, despite being six years older than him. The rapper shared that Rema gives him advice that even his parents haven’t offered, showing him that being an OG isn’t about age. He stated, “I senior Rema by six years, but when he talks, I pay full attention. He’s told me things I’ve never heard from anyone, not even my father and mother.”

PUMA Allegedly Snubs Wizkid Signs Davido in $10M Deal While UBA Drops Starboy

In 2020, global sportswear giant PUMA allegedly signed Nigerian superstar Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, as their brand ambassador, offering him a reported $1 million per year.

Wizkid, known for his massive hits like “Essence” and his status as one of Africa’s most successful musicians, became the face of PUMA’s campaign, representing their products across several markets.

However, when the contract recently expired, Wizkid allegedly demanded a staggering $10 million to renew the deal, citing the same amount that PUMA is believed to pay global icons like Rihanna and Neymar.

PUMA, however, refused to continue the partnership, allegedly stating that while Wizkid has a considerable following, his collection’s sales did not justify such a large figure.

Just a few days ago, PUMA allegedly shocked fans by signing another Nigerian heavyweight, Davido, with the $10 million deal that Wizkid had initially demanded.

Davido, born David Adeleke, is an award-winning artist and one of Africa’s most influential musicians, known for his global hits such as “Fall” and “If”.

This move has reportedly left Wizkid furious, with rumors suggesting that he views this as a betrayal.

With both artists having loyal fanbases, the situation quickly fueled debate online about who holds more influence and why PUMA might have opted for Davido instead of renewing their deal with Wizkid.

The alleged tensions don’t stop there. UBA (United Bank for Africa), which had a $3 million deal with Wizkid since 2020, has reportedly also ended their partnership with the musician.

UBA, one of Africa’s largest financial institutions, is known for collaborating with top talents.

Allegedly, the bank is now in talks with Davido to take over the role of brand ambassador.

Reports suggest that despite Wizkid meeting with UBA’s chairman, Tony Elumelu, a highly respected businessman and philanthropist, to try and secure an extension of the deal, his friend could not help him lock in a continuation.

It is further speculated that these developments have caused friction between Wizkid and Davido, with rumors that Wizkid has lashed out at Davido online, accusing him of negotiating these deals behind his back.

For fans of the two stars, this alleged tension has reignited debates over which artist truly dominates the Afrobeats scene and holds more international clout.

Both musicians are global icons, but recent events have left many questioning where the balance of power lies in the world of African entertainment.
