Jigawa Government Allocates ₦250 Million to Tackle Child Malnutrition

The Jigawa State Government has allocated ₦250 million to purchase ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) as part of its ongoing efforts to tackle the rising malnutrition crisis among children in rural communities.

Dr. Sambo Shehu, the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, highlighted the dire situation during a meeting with agency staff.

Describing the crisis as life-threatening, he stressed the urgent need for swift and effective measures to protect the lives of vulnerable children struggling with malnutrition.

As part of the agency’s strategic priorities for 2025, Dr. Shehu outlined plans to strengthen routine immunizations, improve antenatal and delivery services, and intensify efforts to address malnutrition across the state.

These initiatives aim to enhance healthcare delivery, especially for mothers and children.

In addition to addressing malnutrition, the agency handed over a newly built and fully furnished two-bedroom staff house to the Abaya Primary Healthcare Center in Dutse Local Government Area.
