Johnny Depp Surprises Kids at Hospital as Captain Jack Sparrow

Johnny Depp recently visited Donostia University Hospital in San Sebastián, Spain, dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow from *Pirates of the Caribbean*, surprising children in the Pediatrics and Oncology wards.
His visit coincided with the San Sebastián Film Festival, and he engaged with the patients while staying in character. The hospital expressed gratitude for his time and support. Depp first portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow in 2003’s *Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl*, a role that became iconic.
Although he has played the character in four sequels, he will not return for future films, as announced in 2018. Screenwriter Stuart Beattie and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have noted that Jack Sparrow is a significant part of Depp’s legacy, cherished by fans, especially children.

“My kidney failed, my heart became weak, my liver, everything was just shutting down. She had detached from the placenta; if I was a second late, she would have lost oxygen, and I would have had a stillbirth.”
“Every time I look at her, I just say ‘what if’. That word tormented me; what if the doctor wasn’t attentive? What if the nurse didn’t do her due diligence? It haunted me for a while, I had to get therapy to walk me through being grateful.”
