Justice Nyako to Resume Nnamdi Kanu’s Treason Trial, Says Chief Judge

Published

on

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has ordered the return of Nnamdi Kanu’s treason trial to Justice Binta Nyako, who had earlier recused herself from the case.

Justice Nyako stepped down on September 24 after Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), expressed doubts about her impartiality.

Justice Tsoho directed Kanu to formally submit an application, supported by an affidavit, if he seeks another judge.

The prosecution will also respond before Justice Nyako rules on whether she will continue or withdraw from the case.

This move aims to avoid procedural errors similar to a previous case involving former Benue Governor Gabriel Suswam.
