Kaduna Governor Unveils N790bn Budget With Focus on Education and Growth
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has presented a proposed budget of N790 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, outlining a strategic focus on critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and security.
During the budget presentation to the Kaduna State House of Assembly on Monday, Governor Sani broke down the allocation into N553 billion for capital expenditure and N237 billion for recurrent expenditure.
A major highlight of the proposal is the significant emphasis on education, which accounts for N206.6 billion or 26.14% of the total budget.
The governor stated that this allocation would fund the construction of new schools, rehabilitation of existing ones, teacher recruitment, capacity building, and the provision of educational materials to enhance learning across the state.
This substantial investment reflects the government’s commitment to fostering a more robust educational system, which remains a cornerstone of development.
Healthcare also received notable attention, with N127 billion or 16.07% of the budget earmarked for improving health infrastructure.
According to Governor Sani, these funds will go towards upgrading medical facilities, acquiring advanced equipment, and expanding mobile healthcare services to underserved areas.
The goal is to make quality healthcare accessible to more residents while addressing pressing health challenges within the state.
Infrastructure development, a longstanding priority for the Kaduna State government, is set to receive N106 billion or 13.14% of the budget.
The governor detailed plans to continue ongoing road construction projects, improve rural electrification, and enhance access to clean water.
These initiatives aim to bridge infrastructure gaps, boost economic activities, and improve the quality of life for residents.
In the agricultural sector, N74 billion or 9.36% has been allocated to support innovation, empower smallholder farmers, advance agro-processing activities, and develop irrigation systems.
Governor Sani emphasized the importance of agriculture as a driver of economic growth, job creation, and food security, noting that these interventions are designed to make farming more productive and sustainable.
Security, another critical area, is allocated N11.2 billion to strengthen state security agencies, promote community policing, and improve the overall safety of Kaduna residents.
In addition, the governor highlighted the need to enhance coordination among security operatives to address various threats effectively.
Social welfare programs will receive N9.8 billion or 1.24% of the budget.

Isaac Fayose Criticizes Government Over Taxation and Insecurity
Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has spoken about what he considers one of the country’s biggest problems, stating that many Nigerians are worried about government taxation, insecurity, and the increasing rate of kidnappings for ransom.
He lamented the situation and criticized the government, arguing that these issues have become deeply rooted and that there appears to be no lasting solution in sight.
According to him “In Nigeria we have two governments. One is collecting tax, the other one is collecting ransom. Both of them have one thing in common which is to make life difficult for their people.
The one that is collecting tax without doing anything will come and share you rice and semolina. The one that is collecting ransom is doing giveaway on social media.”
