Kendrick Lamar made history on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, becoming the first solo hip-hop artist to headline the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. His 13-minute performance was both powerful and memorable.

The show began with actor Samuel L. Jackson portraying “Uncle Sam,” setting the stage for themes of identity and stereotypes. Lamar then energized the crowd with hits like “Humble,” “DNA,” and “Not Like Us.”

A standout moment was when SZA joined Lamar to perform “All the Stars.” The audience was thrilled by a surprise appearance from tennis star Serena Williams during “Not Like Us.”

Lamar’s performance was more than entertainment; it carried a strong message. Dancers wore outfits labeled with phrases like “too loud,” “too reckless,” and “too ghetto,” challenging common stereotypes faced by Black artists.
