Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has spoken about Portugal’s World Cup match, sharing his thoughts on how differently the game could have gone.

Rooney said the players kept passing the ball around instead of taking their chances to score. He added that having Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch meant they should have made better use of him.

“When you are playing with Cristiano Ronaldo, you must make use of him. The ball could have been delivered into the box by Bruno, but he chose not to do so.”

“If you include him in the game, you need to utilize him; he remains a significant threat for Portugal during set pieces.”

Ronaldo Nazário reacts to Brazil’s elimination and blames Carlo Ancelotti for the team’s exit.

Ronaldo said “I think this elimination started with decisions made on the coaching bench. Ancelotti is one of the best coaches in football history, but tonight he made too many mistakes.”

He also questioned why a certain player was left out of the squad. “I still don’t understand why João Pedro was not in the squad. He’s been performing brilliantly.”

Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken ahead of Portugal’s Round of 16 clash against Spain at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

When asked about his team’s readiness for the match, Ronaldo expressed confidence, saying they are well prepared and familiar with their opponents.

“We will be ready. We know them well. Spain are among the favourites to win. It is a very balanced match, and we will see what happens.”

The Portugal vs Spain Round of 16 match is scheduled to take place on July 6th.
