Afrobeats sensation Ruger, born Michael Adebayo Olayinka, recently shared an inspiring story about his early days in the music industry. During an interview with VJ Adams, the singer revealed that he donated his very first paycheck—₦500,000—to his church, choosing not to spend a dime of it on himself.

His next payment? A cool ₦1 million, which he admits made him feel like he had “arrived.” That windfall led to a shopping spree, but the real shock came when even bigger paychecks started rolling in—all within his first year in the game.

Ruger also got candid about how money changed him. “Money changes everybody,” he said. “No one can say it didn’t change them. When you start making more, the way you think, act, and handle situations shifts. Some people stop stressing over small things once they’re financially secure.”

The “Bounce” hitmaker dreams of reaching a level of success where he no longer feels the need to react to negativity—much like his idol, Jay-Z. “Look at Jay-Z—he doesn’t even respond to insults because he’s secure in his success. That’s where I’m headed,” Ruger said with a laugh.

Justin Bieber recently opened up about his struggles with what he calls “transactional relationships.” He shared his frustration, revealing how he feels exhausted by constantly trying to earn affection. For him, if love feels like a transaction, then it’s not love at all.

He took to Instagram to express his thoughts, saying, “I’m tired of transactional relationships. If I have to do something to be loved, that’s not love.” In a post from a few weeks ago, he emphasized that true love is unconditional and not about giving and receiving in a calculated way. “Love isn’t a ‘you get what you put in’ kind of thing. It’s a receiving thing. True love is freely given with no expectation,” he explained.

This prompted speculation about possible tension in his marriage to Hailey Bieber, with some wondering if they were heading for a divorce. However, Hailey quickly put those rumors to rest during a May 20 interview with Vogue, calling the divorce talk a “mind-f*ck.”
