Liverpool Manager Admits PSG Was the Better Team in Champions League Game
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain was the better side in their Champions League Round of 16 first-leg clash on Wednesday.
Slot wasn’t surprised by PSG’s dominance, acknowledging the quality in their squad. The French giants created more scoring chances, but Liverpool managed to escape with a 1-0 win thanks to Harvey Elliott’s late goal.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker was the hero for the Reds, making nine crucial saves and earning the Man of the Match award. Speaking after the game, Slot admitted Liverpool was fortunate to come away with the victory.
“Even if we had drawn, we would still have been the lucky ones. They were the better team today,” he said.
“It’s a great result for us, but we could feel the quality of Paris. Every stat shows they’ve been the best side in the Champions League, so I wasn’t surprised by how good they were.
“We weren’t below our level—it was just their quality. They showed it today. Luis Enrique has built an incredible team here.”
