Man Dies After Jumping Into Canal to Evade Arrest in Lagos
A man tragically lost his life after reportedly jumping into a canal while trying to escape in the Ipaja area of Lagos State. The Lagos Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, shared details on his verified X account, confirming the incident occurred on Wednesday around 10 a.m. near Gowon Estate, Ipaja. The man, a passenger on a motorcycle going against traffic, fled on foot after spotting police officers. He ran through a nearby garage, discarding items from his pockets, and despite warnings about a canal ahead, he jumped in.
The police, surprised by his sudden actions, stopped their vehicle and approached the scene. After some time without locating him, they assumed he had successfully escaped. Hundeyin clarified that the officers did not pursue or interact with the man, who panicked upon seeing them. He expressed condolences to the man’s family and reassured the public of the police’s dedication to professional conduct.

Viral Video Sparks Outrage as Delta Police Officer Shoots Restrained Suspect
A viral clip has made its way online showing a police officer in Delta State shooting a suspect who had already been restrained.
It can be noted that the suspect was pleading, claiming he had been framed and deceived, and said he would lead them to the right place.
However, while he was pleading, the police officer shot him. The officer later stated that the suspect was armed with a gun.
It was later revealed that the police officer has been arrested, as it is against the law to shoot a restrained suspect.

24 Children Abducted from Orphanage in Kogi State
It was reported by the Kogi State Government that 24 children were abducted from an orphanage home. It was shared that this happened on the 26th of April, Sunday, and gunmen were seen in the area that day.
The information was shared by the Commissioner of Information, Kingsley Fanwo, who shared this sad news and described it as unfortunate.
