Man United Set to Get £5m if Chelsea Doesn’t Sign Sancho

Chelsea might have to hand over £5 million to Manchester United if they decide not to make Jadon Sancho’s move permanent this summer.
Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan last summer, with an agreement that includes an obligation to buy him for £25 million. However, if Chelsea chooses to back out of the deal, a clause in the agreement states that they would still owe United £5 million, as reported by The Athletic.
Sancho started strong at Stamford Bridge, registering an assist in each of his first three league games. But his form has taken a sharp dip since then, managing just two goals and one assist in his last 20 league appearances.

Petit Says Messi Will Retire After 2026 World Cup and Won’t Return to Barcelona

Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has shared his thoughts on Lionel Messi’s future, saying the legendary Argentine will likely hang up his boots after the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Petit also dismissed ongoing rumours about Messi making a return to Barcelona, saying there’s no space for him in the current setup. According to him, young talent Lamine Yamal has already stepped into Messi’s shoes at the club.
Speaking in an interview, Petit said, “Messi has been linked with a return to Barca, but I don’t see it happening. Yamal won’t be sitting on the bench, and while Messi could play as a No. 10, we know he doesn’t run much anymore. Can Barcelona handle that in midfield?” He added that Messi’s focus will likely be on leading Argentina one last time in the 2026 World Cup before calling time on his career. Messi left Barcelona for PSG after contract talks with the Catalan side broke down.

Makelele Picks Dembele Over Yamal for 2025 Ballon d’Or

Former Chelsea star Claude Makelele has backed Ousmane Dembele to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or, snubbing rising Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal. Makelele, who also played for France, said while Yamal is clearly talented, he still has a lot to prove and needs more time to grow. In his view, Dembele has put in the work over the years and deserves the recognition.
Speaking in an interview, Makelele said, “Dembele deserves it. Lamine still has to show more consistency. He’s still a kid. He’s got the talent, but let’s not rush him.” Both Dembele and Yamal have been named among the top contenders for the prestigious award, but Makelele believes it’s too early to hand it to the teenager.
