Mbappe Breaks Di Stéfano’s 71-Year-Old Real Madrid Goal Record

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has shattered a 71-year-old club record held by Alfredo Di Stéfano. On Wednesday, Mbappe scored his 28th LaLiga goal of the season in just his 32nd league game, setting a new record for the most goals scored by a Real Madrid player in their debut league season. Di Stéfano’s record of 27 goals from the 1953-54 season finally fell, but Mbappe still has two games left to extend his tally.

The match itself was a tense battle. Real Madrid needed an injury-time goal to snatch a 2-1 victory over Mallorca and keep their hopes alive in the title race. After going behind early to a Martin Valjent strike, Mbappe pulled one back in the 68th minute, and Jacobo Ramon sealed the win deep into stoppage time.

This win is crucial for Carlo Ancelotti’s team after a damaging defeat to Barcelona last weekend, which left Real four points behind their rivals. Barcelona can clinch the league with a win in their local derby against Espanyol, but a draw or loss would keep the title race wide open heading into the final two matches.

Di Stéfano remains one of Real Madrid’s greatest scorers with 306 goals in 392 games, but only Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Raul have surpassed his total goals for the club. Now, Mbappe is making his mark among the legends.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford could be heading to Barcelona, with reports suggesting he is ready to play a central attacking role under new manager Hansi Flick. Sports journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Barcelona are considering a loan move for Rashford, although their main transfer target remains Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.

Rashford is reportedly keen on a switch to the Spanish giants this summer and is open to adapting to Flick’s plans by operating through the middle in attack. The England international appears to have no future at Old Trafford under new manager Ruben Amorim.

United, however, have placed a £40 million price tag on Rashford, which could complicate the deal. It remains uncertain whether the club will allow him to leave on loan or insist on a permanent transfer.

“Osimhen Is Not a Champion and Only Had One Good Season” — Flores says

Former Italy U-21 striker, Antonio Floro Flores, has taken a swipe at Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen, calling him an average player. Speaking with Kiss Kiss Napoli, Flores didn’t hold back, saying Osimhen should take his football career to Saudi Arabia and stop the noise.

Osimhen, who joined Napoli in 2020, helped the club win the Serie A title after a 33-year wait. However, he was loaned to Galatasaray last season, sparking mixed reactions about his future. Despite interest from top European clubs, Flores believes Osimhen has done little to earn the hype.

“Osimhen? He should go to Saudi Arabia. I’m honestly tired of hearing his name,” Flores said. “I get irritated when people talk about him like he’s some big star. He had only one good season. This is someone who turned his back on the city that made him famous. Even his own mother didn’t know him before Napoli.

“He even removed Napoli from his Instagram like he’s done something special. If I was his agent, I would’ve sent him to Saudi Arabia already. He’s not a champion, and I doubt he even realises it.”

PSG defender Achraf Hakimi has sent a friendly but firm message to Lionel Messi ahead of their clash at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 on Sunday. Hakimi, who once shared the dressing room with Messi at PSG, will now face the Argentine legend as rivals when PSG take on Inter Miami this weekend.

Speaking to ItalPress, the Moroccan star admitted it would be great to see Messi again, but made it clear that friendship stays off the pitch once the game starts. “It’ll be nice to meet Messi again, we shared some great moments,” Hakimi said. “But when the match begins, there are no friends. “He’ll do everything to win, and so will we. We’ll give it our all to qualify for the next round.”
