Mikel Obi Names Thierry Henry as Premier League’s Greatest Player
Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has named Thierry Henry as the greatest player in Premier League history, putting the Arsenal legend at the top of his list.
Mikel Obi, who played alongside legends like Lampard, Drogba, and Terry during his time at Chelsea, doesn’t believe Salah has done enough to be named the greatest.
Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, Mikel said, “Numbers-wise, you can put Salah in the conversation, but when you talk about a complete player, you can’t put him in that conversation.”
Mikel, who’s close friends with Salah, praised the winger’s growth over the years. “I’m a huge fan of Salah; I’ve known him since our Chelsea days. He’s a different player now—mentally and physically stronger, and more confident.”
But for Mikel, there’s one player who stands above all: “The best player to have played in the Premier League is Thierry Henry,” he said. “For two to three years, he completely dominated the league. He had everything—fantastic on the ball, fast, skilled—he was phenomenal.”
