Mourinho Debunks Claims of Wishing Relegation on Manchester City
Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho has dismissed reports suggesting he wanted Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City relegated from the Premier League amid allegations of financial breaches.
Manchester City, who have dominated the Premier League with four consecutive titles, face possible fines and points deductions for over a decade of alleged financial irregularities.
However, Mourinho clarified his stance during an interview with Turkish outlet Fanatik, expressing his desire for fair competition.
“I want to win, but I want to win cleanly and fairly. If I can’t win cleanly, I’d rather lose,” Mourinho stated. “He won six trophies, and I won three, but I won fairly and cleanly. I don’t want to win by dealing with 115 cases.”
Mourinho also emphasized his good relationship with Guardiola, having worked together for three years. “Pep and I know we love each other.
It is not true that I want them to be relegated; what is true is that I want justice. Small teams are penalized for exceeding financial limits by small amounts, yet the big teams seem to get away with more.”
The Fenerbahce coach further recalled his challenges with Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules during his time at AS Roma, lamenting the inconsistencies in their application.
“I suffered due to the limits at Roma. All I want is justice, but there are no ill feelings between us,” Mourinho concluded.

Analyst Says Tinubu Not Responsible for Recent U.S.-Linked Airstrike Claims
Nigerian news analyst, Mahmud Jega, has shared his opinion on the recent airstrike carried out by the United States in Nigeria, stating that Nigerians should not blame President Bola Tinubu for the incident.
Jega made this statement during a recent interview, where he said he does not believe many people will hold the Tinubu administration responsible, as Donald Trump had issued threats against Nigeria long before Tinubu’s administration.
“No, I don’t think many people will blame the Tinubu administration for what is happening now because President Donald Trump, when he first made the threats, it was clearly not in coordination with the Tinubu administration or the government of Nigeria,” Jega said.
