In a heartfelt message shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on February 26, 2025, Nigerian singer and Marlian Music CEO, Naira Marley, opened up about the profound pain and betrayal he has felt following the death of his former signee, Mohbad.

This statement comes shortly after a Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos cleared him and others of any involvement in Mohbad’s untimely demise.

Naira Marley expressed deep sorrow over the accusations leveled against him, stating, “I never thought silence could be so loud.

I never thought someone I called my brother, someone I protected, would leave this world with my name in his shadow.” He lamented the weight of the pain and shame he has carried, emphasizing that it was never his to bear.

Reflecting on their relationship, Naira Marley revealed that despite past differences, he and Mohbad had reconciled before the latter’s passing.

“I made peace with Mohbad. We understood each other beyond the noise, beyond the misunderstandings,” he shared.

However, Naira Marley expressed frustration over the actions of those he once trusted.

He accused them of allowing the public to vilify him, stating, “Yet when he took his last breath in you all’s arms, you looked at the world and pointed at me.

You let them tear me apart. You let them call me a killer while you sat there, knowing the truth.”

Also, the singer criticized the delay in Mohbad’s burial, implying that those who knew the truth could have acted sooner to grant the deceased the rest he deserves.

“My brother is gone, still not buried, and that is your fault. Telling the truth from the beginning would have given him the rest he deserves,” Naira Marley asserted.

Addressing the legal battles and public scrutiny he has faced, Naira Marley recounted his ordeal: “You never thought I would survive.

You never thought I would walk through the fire and face my people… Instead, I stood before the justice system, spent time in jail, and faced everything head-on while you changed the story, again and again.”

Concluding his message, Naira Marley expressed hope that the truth will eventually prevail. “God sees all. The truth does not shake.

The lies will fade, and time will reveal everything,” he stated, adding, “I have been broken, but I am not destroyed. And when the truth finally speaks, I pray your heart is strong enough to bear it.”

Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, was a rising star in the Nigerian music scene. He was formerly signed to Marlian Music, Naira Marley’s record label, before their professional relationship ended.
