The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested four minors for allegedly stealing iron rods from an uncompleted building in the Guzape area of Abuja.

The suspects, identified as Matthew Vincent (15), Timothy Shedrack (15), Moses Vincent (11), and Lucky Enock, were apprehended after a complaint was lodged at the Guzape Police Station.Residents had reported suspicious nightly activities at the site, including loud noises and swift movements as the minors dismantled parts of the structure.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the minors scaled the fence to gain access and used crude tools to remove the rods, later selling them to a local scrap dealer identified as “Babanbola.” Efforts are underway to locate the dealer, believed to be part of a larger network involved in the theft and resale of construction materials.

FCT Commissioner of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has called on parents to monitor their children’s activities closely to curb juvenile delinquency.

He also urged construction site owners to enhance security measures, such as deploying guards and installing surveillance systems. Scrap dealers were advised to verify the origins of materials before purchase and report suspected stolen goods.

The minors will be moved to juvenile homes for rehabilitation, while those found culpable will face legal consequences. The police assured residents of their commitment to maintaining law and order across the FCT.

Human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi has broken his silence days after his release from detention, thanking Nigerians for their overwhelming support.

Farotimi, known for his outspoken criticism of Nigeria’s legal and justice system, was arrested in Lagos on December 3, 2024, over allegations of defamation against legal luminary Afe Babalola.

On December 4, an Ekiti State Magistrate Court presided over by Abayomi Adeosun, ordered his remand in prison.

Days later, on December 6, the police levelled an additional 12-count charge against him, escalating the case’s profile.

After weeks of legal tussles, the court granted him bail on December 20, setting stringent conditions, including a N30 million bond, the submission of his international passport, and a ban on granting media interviews during the ongoing trial.

In a heartfelt video now trending on social media, Farotimi expressed gratitude to the public for rallying behind him.

He remarked, “We lost our humanity when we allowed divisions to define us. But you refused to see me as just a Yoruba man or a Christian.

You spoke for me as a fellow human being. Because of your voices, Nigeria couldn’t silence me.

Your unity became my strength, and in that collective voice, we stood together.”

Apostle Johnson Suleman, the founder and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, has issued a stern warning to his church members against marrying outside the congregation.

In a recent sermon, he emphasized the importance of marrying within the church, pointing out the advantages for his male followers in choosing partners from within the ministry.

Suleman made it clear that he would no longer attend the weddings of members who decided to marry women from other churches.

In a viral video that has since circulated on social media, he explained.

“If you marry someone outside the ministry, I will not attend the wedding because there are plenty of daughters in this church, and yet you’re looking elsewhere.”

The cleric went on to reveal that a significant portion of the marital issues he’s dealt with in recent months stems from members who married outside the church.

“Seventy percent of the crises I’ve handled in the last two months are from people who married women from other places,” he said.
