Nigeria Police Force Condemns Assault on Officer in Lagos, Pledges Full Legal Action
The Nigeria Police Force has expressed strong disapproval following the recent assault on a police officer in Lagos State on June 22, 2024, at Chevron Roundabout in Lekki. Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, voiced his dismay over the incident.
The attacker, 47-year-old Oluwaseun Jacobs, a cobbler from Ajah, was swiftly apprehended and has been arraigned on three charges: assault occasioning bodily harm and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The court has set the next hearing for July 8, 2024, with Jacobs currently held at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending further legal proceedings.
IGP Egbetokun assured all police officers of the Force’s unwavering support in the face of rights violations, emphasizing that the safety of officers is paramount. He reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate any assault on its officers and will ensure that perpetrators face the full force of the law.
The NPF urges all citizens to respect the role of the police in maintaining law and order, and to support efforts in creating a safer society.

Concern Grows Over Rising Insecurity Following Kwara Abduction Case
