The Nigeria Union of Teachers staged a protest following the abduction of teachers and students in Oyo State, stating that no school in Nigeria is truly safe at the moment.

The teachers held a peaceful rally, calling for the safe release and rescue of the abducted teachers and students. They urged authorities to intensify efforts to secure their freedom and improve security across schools.

Amid the calls for their release, the union added “People travelling on highways are being dragged into forests after vehicles are stopped. One can no longer move freely. These criminal groups have littered every corner of the federation carrying out nefarious activities. We must be truthful to ourselves; government has not done enough.”

Over 15 Injured as Gunmen Invade Plateau Community

It has been reported that bandits attacked another community in Plateau State on May 31, 2026.

Reports indicate that eight people were killed, while more than 15 others sustained injuries in Gwon-Ajang village, Foron District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

A resident of the community said “The attackers invaded Gwon-Ajang village of Foron District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area at about 10 p.m. on Sunday.

“They were more than 100 and heavily armed. The people had already retired to their beds when the bandits invaded the village. Immediately they entered the village, they started shooting while shouting and speaking the Fulani language throughout the attack.”

Nigerian Air Force Destroys Terrorist Hideouts In Borno

The force was able to take out some of the facilities used as hideouts and disarmed some of the fighters.

The Director of Public Relations for the Air Force, Ehimen Ejodame, shared that they are beginning to catch up with and evoke fear among the terrorists.
