Okada Rider Brutally Killed by Suspected Motorcycle Snatchers in Ondo State
Yakubu, an Okada rider, was found dead with his throat slit along the Arigidi Akoko/Okeagbe road in Akoko North West, Ondo State, on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
His motorcycle was missing, marking the fourth such killing in the community within a month.
The incident has triggered protests by local women and calls from community leaders for increased security.
The local police, along with Amotekun Corps and Civil Defence, are actively investigating and pursuing the culprits responsible for these gruesome murders.

Lagos Port Welcomes the Largest Container Vessel Ever to Nigerian Port
The Lagos Port Complex in Apapa welcomes the largest container vessel ever to the Nigerian port with a capacity of 7000 TEUs. This events marks as a milestone for Nigeria and shows the growth in the country’s trade. The vessel, operated by COSCO Shipping, measures 272 meters in length and is expected to enhance the port’s efficiency.
The terminal operator at the APM Terminal states that this achievement will strengthen Nigeria’s import and export abilities and serves as a good reputation. This event has expanded the presence of Nigeria’s port and can start to make positive changes in the economic state of the country.

President Tinubu Advises Media on Democracy and Government Accountability
President Bola Tinubu advises the media to hold the government responsible in order to strengthen Nigeria’s Democracy. At the 20th All Nigeria Editors Conference, situated in Bayelsa, President Tinubu was represented by the Minister of Information.
And the Minister passes across the message that the media and government should be one with a shared goal. He emphasises on democracy and accountability with the government and the media.The Governor of Bayelsa, Douye Diri also shares the same idea and speaks on democracy within the media, he talks about the importance of unity for the sake of national development.

LASEPA Takes Action, Shuts Down Establishments for Noise Pollution
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, (LASEPA) , takes action and shuts down places contributing to noise pollution, places such as churches, bar and hotels. The Agency states that these places have been breaking environmental rules and closed them.
They released a statement of the establishments causing noise pollution to the environment, “The affected establishments include Honourable Lounge & Lodging, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Celestial Church of God, OMA Night Club and Lounge, Bridge Spot Bar. “Others are Okiki Event Centre and Hall, Emota Paradise Hotel (Phase 2), CF Hotel & Suites, House 27 Hotel & Suites, Echo Spring Hotel, and Smile T Continental Hotel”.
