Okpebholo Open to Collaboration with Opposition

Published

on

Edo State Governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed openness to collaborating with opposition parties if they present “beautiful” and “acceptable” ideas for the people. This follows his election victory, where he garnered 291,667 votes, defeating Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party.

However, Ighodalo has rejected the results, alleging vote-buying and manipulation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and plans to contest the outcome legally.

Okpebholo urged his rivals to accept the results and focus on future opportunities. He emphasized that his administration represents a “new dawn” for Edo State, dedicated to serving the people. Former Governor Adams Oshiomhole echoed this sentiment, calling for unity among all political factions to ensure the welfare of Edo citizens and encouraging the opposition to embrace collaboration for the greater good.

True humility comes from having Heaven in view, as demonstrated by Daddy E.A. Adeboye’s recent public apology.

His actions show that following God’s instructions, even when difficult, holds more value than earthly recognition.

When God corrects us privately, we must act on it publicly if necessary.

Ego and pride can hinder obedience, but as servants of the Most High, we must prioritize God’s commands over personal image.

Restitution and open confession may be the steps required for a peaceful journey to Heaven.

Tajudeen Abbas Awarded GCON by President Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has awarded Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), the nation’s second-highest national honor.

This announcement was made by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, in a statement on Friday night. The honor follows ongoing debates between the Senate and the House regarding the Speaker’s eligibility for a higher accolade.

During his Independence Anniversary speech on October 1, President Tinubu had previously awarded the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) to the Speaker and the Deputy Senate President, prompting discussions in the House for a more prestigious honor.

Onanuga noted that the President was influenced by the House’s request and decided to rectify what he termed a “historical error.” As a result, the Speaker’s honor was upgraded from CFR to GCON, in line with the National Order of Precedence. The Speaker, Senate President, and other National Assembly leaders, along with the Chief Justice of Nigeria, will be formally honored in a ceremony at a later date, according to the Presidency.
