Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, announced that 37,000 women will benefit from a ₦50,000 recapitalisation grant through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). During a ceremony in Makurdi, where she presented food items to internally displaced persons (IDPs), people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups, she revealed that the grant will be given to 1,000 women from each of Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This initiative is part of the RHI’s broader women empowerment programme and will officially launch on August 22.

The event also highlighted the distribution of a truckload of assorted food items as part of the RHI’s “Food Outreach Scheme,” aimed at supporting underprivileged communities. Governor Hyacient Alia praised the First Lady for her support to Benue’s vulnerable populations and promised to enhance the distribution efforts. The Special Adviser on Women Affairs in Benue, Mrs. Scholastica Sor, noted that the state has received significant support from the RHI and anticipates further assistance, including an agriculture programme benefiting over 200 women.
