The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence in taking over the leadership of Abia State in the 2027 elections, pledging to deliver greater democratic benefits to the people of the state.

Speaking at Abiriba Stadium in Ohafia Local Government Area, Abia APC Chairman Kingsley Ononogbu welcomed former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart Kelvin Jombo Onumah and his supporters into the party.

Ononogbu credited the APC’s growing popularity in the state to the contributions of prominent party figures like Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

“We are now more united and prepared than ever. If we take over Abia State in 2027, you will witness more visible and impactful actions,” Ononogbu said.

Kelvin Jombo, now an APC member, said his move was motivated by a desire to attract meaningful development to his constituents in Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency and Abia North as a whole.

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, speaking at the event, urged Nigerians to remain patient with President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms.

Kalu assured citizens that the current challenges of hardship and hunger were temporary and that the government’s policies would eventually lead to economic recovery and stability.

Meanwhile, the Abia PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah, responded to the APC’s claims, asserting that his party remained strong and would make a significant comeback.

In a statement, Amah said, “We will bounce back to the amazement of naysayers and detractors”.

Bichi claims to possess compromising documents, voice recordings, and videos that he plans to release “when the time is right.”

This statement came after Bichi’s dismissal in December 2024, along with five other commissioners, by Governor Yusuf.

Speaking to his supporters on Thursday, shortly after returning from Saudi Arabia, Bichi revealed his intentions to reveal the actions of those he once worked with.

“I’m at peace with the end of my tenure, but the time will come when we’ll expose the truth,” he said.
