Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate for 2023, has expressed his support for the nationwide protest scheduled for August 1.

During a courtesy visit to Abia State Governor Alex Otti on Sunday, July 28, Obi emphasized that the Nigerian Constitution allows for peaceful protests and called on protesters to demonstrate within the confines of the law.

Obi attributed the protest’s motivation to widespread hunger and hopelessness among the youth.

He urged Nigerian authorities to engage with the protesters and listen to their grievances, stating, “We all have to listen to what Nigerians are going through.”

He also called on security agencies to provide protection for the protesters and to manage the situation lawfully, highlighting the importance of dialogue and understanding in governance.
