PSG Risks Champions League Ban Over Mbappe Dispute
Paris Saint-Germain face the risk of being expelled from the Champions League due to a €55 million dispute over unpaid wages with Kylian Mbappe. Despite leaving PSG for Real Madrid as a free agent this summer, Mbappe claims he is owed €55 million, including a €36 million signing bonus, three months of unpaid salary, and an ‘ethics bonus’ for April-June 2024.
Mbappe’s lawyers have taken the matter to the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) and UEFA through the French Football Federation (FFF). The LFP could impose a transfer ban on PSG, and UEFA could potentially cancel PSG’s license for European competitions, which could exclude them from the Champions League.
