Qing Madi Opens Up on How Hard It Is for Women to Succeed in the Nigerian Music Industry
Nigerian singer Qing Madi has opened up about the struggles women face in the music scene, saying the industry offers little to no support for female artists.
The American Love star revealed on the Wahala Podcast that women in music often work twice as hard as men yet still face harsh criticism that their male colleagues are rarely subjected to.
She explained that society tends to place unnecessary restrictions on women while giving men more freedom, making the journey tougher for female musicians.
“At just 19, I already feel the weight of these challenges,” she said, adding that women in the industry hardly ever get a break.
Despite this, Qing Madi expressed pride in being a young female artist in Nigeria and praised other women in music for their resilience, noting that it takes strength and determination to survive in such a demanding space.
