Rappers Cupcakke and Kehlani Support Palestine Amid Conflict, Face Backlash

American rapper Cupcakke, known by her real name Elizabeth Eden Harris, has made a significant contribution of $15,510.60 to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund during the ongoing Israel–Hamas conflict.

Through a heartfelt post on social media, she not only shared her donation but also called upon her followers to join her in supporting this cause.

Cupcakke’s gesture comes at a time of heightened international attention on the situation in Palestine, underscoring her commitment to humanitarian efforts amidst adversity.

 

In a similar vein, American singer Kehlani recently opened up about the challenges she has faced for publicly advocating for Palestine.

Despite facing backlash and professional setbacks, Kehlani remains steadfast in her support, evident from her actions like raising $500,000 for the people of Gaza, Congo, and Sudan.

Her advocacy extends beyond mere words, as seen in her incorporation of the Palestinian flag in her music videos and her ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the humanitarian crises affecting these regions.

 

During an interview with the Breakfast Club, Kehlani candidly discussed the criticisms she has encountered, highlighting the importance of standing up for humanitarian causes despite potential consequences.

Rema and Asake Feature in Barack Obama’s Favorite Songs of 2024

Two Nigerian music stars, Rema and Asake, have earned a place in former U.S. President Barack Obama’s annual list of favorite songs for 2024.

On Saturday, Obama shared his handpicked selection of tracks from the year, and both artists’ songs were included.

Rema’s hit single Yayo and Asake’s collaboration with Travis Scott on Active made the prestigious list..

The list also saw the inclusion of another African artist, South Africa’s Tyla, who was featured for her song Jump, a track featuring Gunna and Skillibeng.

In addition to the African stars, Nigerian-American singers Shaboozey and Jordan Adetunji also appeared on Obama’s playlist.

Shaboozey’s A Bar Song and Adetunji’s Kehlani were celebrated for their unique sound, adding diversity to the mix.

As expected, the list also featured big names from the global music scene, with legendary artists like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, and Karol G all making an appearance.

These mainstream stars continue to dominate the music industry, but Obama’s inclusion of emerging artists such as Rema and Asake shows his appreciation for a variety of musical genres.

On sharing his list with his followers via X (formerly Twitter), Obama encouraged fans to explore the tracks, saying, “Here are my favorite songs from this year!
