Reckitt Honoured for Contributions to Nigeria’s WASH Sector

Reckitt, a global hygiene and health leader, has been recognized for its impactful contributions to Nigeria’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector. The award was presented by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation during the 2024 Global Handwashing Day event in Abuja.

The recognition highlights Reckitt’s initiatives, particularly through its brands Dettol and Harpic. In 2024, Dettol’s Hygiene Quest program directly reached over 250,000 individuals and indirectly impacted 2 million people, promoting life-saving handwashing practices. Since 2013, the program has educated over 6 million children and 4 million mothers.

Harpic has championed improved sanitation practices, collaborating with the Federal Ministry on initiatives like “World Toilet Day” to combat open defecation and advance Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6).

Cassandra Uzo-Ogbugh, Head of External Affairs at Reckitt Sub-Saharan Africa, praised the recognition, emphasizing Reckitt’s commitment to fostering healthier communities across Nigeria.

The award underscores the company’s ongoing efforts to ensure access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education for all Nigerians.
