Rema Claims Top Spot in Afrobeats
Following the success of his hit single “Calm Down,” Rema has confidently claimed his spot among Afrobeats’ top artists, positioning himself alongside the “Afrobeats Big 3” — Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy. In an interview on *The Breakfast Club*, Rema addressed skepticism about his place in the industry due to his relatively short career.
He attributed some of the doubt to his rapid rise, fueled by “Calm Down” with Selena Gomez, which led to perceptions that he achieved success too quickly. Rema argued that his accomplishments, such as breaking long-standing records in just a few years, challenge traditional timelines for earning respect. His recent album *HEIS* reflects his intention to push against conventional norms and solidify his status among Afrobeats’ elite.

In a recent interview with Korty EO, the singer shared that it was against his father to pursue music. His mother then recalled how he came to turn them down on studying abroad and stated he wanted to stay and learn in Nigeria.
