Afrobeats star Rema has shared his desire to reclaim a sense of rebelliousness and freedom through smoking cigarettes. In an interview with GRMDaily, the singer of “Ozeba” discussed how the deaths of his father and brother forced him to abandon his childhood and mature rapidly to support his family. Now, at 24, he longs to recapture the freedom and spontaneity of youth.

Rema explained that his new habit of smoking is a way to feel liberated and to rebel against the constraints of his fame. He expressed frustration over being judged for making mistakes typical of someone his age, emphasizing that his desire to break free from his meticulously planned life is a genuine part of his search for freedom.
