Rodri, the talented Manchester City and Spain midfielder, has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent comments about his 2024 Ballon d’Or win.

Ronaldo, who has claimed the prestigious award five times, expressed his belief that Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior was unfairly denied the title, stating, “Vinicius Jr should have won the Ballon d’Or, in my opinion it was clear.

It was unfair. This is why I love the Globe Soccer Awards, they are honest.”

Rodri, in an interview with AS, reacted to Ronaldo’s remarks, calling them surprising.

He said, “He knows better than anyone how the award works and, most importantly, how the winner is chosen.

This year, the journalists who voted decided that I should win it.”

The 28-year-old midfielder pointed out the irony in Ronaldo’s statement, adding, “These same journalists were likely the ones who voted for him to win the award in the past, and I imagine that at that time, he agreed with their decision.”

Just days after returning to Turkey, Victor Osimhen has been caught up in an unexpected controversy. The Bulut Mosque in Konya was briefly shown on Google Maps as “Victor Osimhen Mosque,” a change that angered many worshippers.

One local, Zeki Yaylacı, called it disrespectful, saying it was wrong to name a mosque after a non-Muslim and that it insulted both the Muslim community and their places of worship. There is no indication that Osimhen had any involvement in the incident, which appears to have been caused by inaccurate user edits on Google Maps.

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has shared her thoughts on being nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or Yacine Trophy, which honours the best women’s goalkeeper in the world. The 24-year-old has made history as the first African to earn a spot on the shortlist.

Nnadozie has had a remarkable year for both club and country. She helped her former side Paris FC lift the Coupe de France Féminine in May, making a decisive save in a tense 5-4 penalty shootout win over Paris Saint-Germain.

Since joining Brighton & Hove, she has also been instrumental in Nigeria’s victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where she was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament after keeping four clean sheets in six matches.
