Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo revealed he played the UEFA Nations League final with an injury. After helping Portugal secure a win over Spain on Sunday, the 40-year-old said he felt the injury during the warm-up but decided to push through because the match was too important to miss.

Speaking to reporters, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner said he would have played even with a broken leg for his country. “I had been feeling it for some time during the warm-up,” Ronaldo explained. “But for the national team, if I had to break a leg, I’d still go out there. It’s a trophy. I gave everything I had and even scored a goal.”

He added that despite the pain, he forced himself to keep going because representing his country means pushing beyond limits. Ronaldo’s goal helped Portugal draw 2-2 with Spain after extra time, before they triumphed 5-3 in the penalty shootout at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
