Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that he is fighting to keep his job as the season enters its crucial second half.

Since taking over in November, the former Sporting CP coach has struggled to turn things around, losing seven of his 13 Premier League games, including five defeats at Old Trafford.

Speaking at a press conference, the 40-year-old acknowledged the risks involved, especially with United’s approach in the January transfer window, where they made no major signings.

“We are fighting for our jobs until the summer,” Amorim said, admitting that stepping into a struggling team mid-season without reinforcements was always going to be a gamble.

Galatasaray are reportedly preparing to approach Newcastle United for striker Alexander Isak if their bid to sign Victor Osimhen permanently falls through. Sports presenter Volkan Kılıç shared the update on X, explaining that while the chances of securing Isak are slim, the Turkish giants are determined to explore the option.

“Galatasaray will reach out to Newcastle for Alexander Isak if the Osimhen deal doesn’t go through,” Kılıç revealed, noting the club is ready to push for the transfer despite the difficulty.

Isak had an impressive season with Newcastle, scoring 27 goals and delivering 6 assists in 42 appearances. The 25-year-old is under contract with the Premier League side until June 2028. Meanwhile, Osimhen—who enjoyed a strong loan stint at Galatasaray—is yet to make a final decision about his future, leaving the Turkish club to consider backup options.

Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has advised transfer target Viktor Gyokeres to consider a move to Arsenal instead of Old Trafford. Speaking on talkSPORT, Ferdinand admitted he’s not fully convinced the Sporting CP striker is the right fit for United at this time. He pointed out that Gyokeres has struggled when up against strong defenders in high-level matches like the Champions League.

“I haven’t seen enough to be fully sold,” he said, noting that physical battles against top-level defenders didn’t seem to work in the striker’s favour. Ferdinand also believes United should prioritise more experienced players right now, rather than taking a risk.

Gyokeres, 27, currently has a €100 million release clause in his contract with Sporting. However, the club is reportedly open to selling if an offer of at least €70 million comes in this summer.

Neymar Jr’s future is once again making headlines, as his father confirmed that talks with top European clubs are on the table. After a brief return to Santos earlier this year—following a tough injury spell and a terminated contract with Al-Hilal—Neymar’s next move is now up for discussion. His short-term deal with the Brazilian club is almost up, and his camp is exploring new possibilities.

Speaking to L’Equipe, Neymar Sr revealed that they’ll be heading to Miami for meetings with interested clubs. “We have to hear what they have to say and decide what’s best,” he said. While he didn’t name specific teams, he did mention that some of the clubs are currently competing in the Champions League.

According to him, they believe Neymar still has a lot to offer and could have an excellent season ahead. Despite the interest from Europe, Neymar Sr didn’t rule out the possibility of his son staying in Brazil, saying the local football scene is still appealing.
