Sabrina Carpenter is celebrating a major milestone with her latest album, *Short n’ Sweet*, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Released on August 23, the pop star’s sixth studio album earned 362,000 album units, surpassing Travis Scott’s re-release of his 2014 mixtape *Days Before Rodeo*, which landed at No. 2. This marks Carpenter’s first Billboard No. 1 and the third-largest debut of 2024, following Beyoncé’s *Cowboy Carter* and Taylor Swift’s *The Tortured Poets Department*.

Carpenter’s chart success comes with a nod to Nicki Minaj, who faced a similar chart battle in 2018. After Carpenter’s victory, she tweeted, “this one’s for nicki,” referencing Minaj’s struggle when her album *Queen* went up against Scott’s *Astroworld*. Minaj acknowledged the tribute, showing love to Carpenter and her fans. The moment recalls Minaj’s past criticism of how Scott’s tour and merch sales boosted his chart performance, sparking a broader conversation about the challenges women face in the music industry.

As expected, the list also featured big names from the global music scene, with legendary artists like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, and Karol G all making an appearance.

These mainstream stars continue to dominate the music industry, but Obama’s inclusion of emerging artists such as Rema and Asake shows his appreciation for a variety of musical genres.
