“Safety Is Guaranteed” — FIFA Addresses Trump’s Comments on World Cup Host Cities
FIFA has reacted to comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump, following his suggestion to move some World Cup matches between host cities in the United States.
The president expressed concern that some of the selected cities were not safe and suggested relocating the matches to cities he believes have better security.
In response, FIFA released a statement clarifying that safety at all events is guaranteed. “Safety and security are the top priorities at all FIFA events worldwide,” the governing body said in a statement.
“Safety and security are obviously the governments’ responsibility, and they decide what is in the best interest of public safety.
We hope every one of our 16 host cities will be ready to successfully host and fulfil all necessary requirements.”
