Scaloni Snubs Messi and Names Mbappé and Yamal as World’s Best

Argentina’s coach Lionel Scaloni just stirred the pot by naming the world’s best footballer—and it’s not his captain, Lionel Messi. While Scaloni insists Messi is in a league of his own, he pointed to a new generation of stars as the game’s current elite.
In a lively chat on Siro Lopez’s YouTube channel, Scaloni sidestepped Messi, calling him “one of a kind,” and instead shouted out Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal, Julián Álvarez, and Lautaro Martínez as the top dogs right now.
At 37, Messi’s still a force, racking up 10 goals and three assists in 15 matches for Inter Miami this season. With eight Ballon d’Ors and a record 46 trophies from his Barcelona and PSG days, the Argentine legend’s legacy is untouchable.

Amorim Nearly Quit Man U After Poor Start But Stayed for Europa League Final

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim reportedly considered quitting just two months into the job, after a rocky start left him frustrated and under pressure. The Portuguese coach took over from Erik ten Hag in November 2024, stepping into a role loaded with high expectations. But after managing just one win in his first eight games, things quickly turned sour.
According to sources, Amorim was so disappointed after a 3-1 loss to Brighton at Old Trafford that he was ready to resign in January. It reportedly took some serious convincing from close associates to stop him from walking away. While he decided to stay, the team’s form hasn’t improved much. United have suffered 13 defeats in 25 Premier League matches, and Amorim is said to be “deeply embarrassed” by the results.
Despite the struggles, there’s still hope. He has led the team to the Europa League final, where they’ll face Tottenham Hotspur. Winning it could secure both a trophy and a spot in next season’s Champions League. Earlier this year, club leaders including CEO Omar Berrada had to step in and reassure Amorim of their support, encouraging him to keep pushing through the tough period.

De Bruyne May Skip Man City’s World Cup to Avoid Injury Before Summer Move

Kevin De Bruyne has suggested he might skip the Club World Cup with Manchester City, as he weighs his future beyond the club. The Belgian midfielder, 33, is nearing the end of his contract and is expected to become a free agent this summer.
With the Club World Cup set to take place in the US between June and July, De Bruyne would need to sign a short-term deal to take part. But he’s not convinced that’s a smart move. Speaking about the situation, De Bruyne expressed concern about the risk of injury during the tournament, especially with a potential transfer on the horizon.
“If I pick up an injury at the Club World Cup, then what? No one’s going to look after me at that point,” he said, adding that while there’s still a chance he could play, it’s unlikely. His comments hint at a player focused on protecting his future, rather than taking unnecessary risks in a competition that comes just as he prepares to move on.

Messi Tells Inter Miami to Stay Strong and Work Together After Losing 3-0 to Orlando

Lionel Messi has urged his Inter Miami teammates to stick together and fight through their current rough patch following a disappointing 3-0 loss to Orlando City on Sunday night in the MLS. The loss added to a worrying run for Inter Miami, who have now managed just one win in their last seven games across all competitions.
Speaking to Apple TV after the match, the Argentine star admitted it’s a tough moment for the team but believes it’s also a time to show true character.
“It’s in times like this you see the real team,” Messi said. “It’s easy when things are going well, but now we need to be more united than ever and pull through this together.” Inter Miami will face table-toppers Philadelphia next, as they look to bounce back. The team currently sits in 6th place with 22 points.
