Argentina’s head coach, Lionel Scaloni, has urged fans not to pressure Lionel Messi about playing in the 2026 World Cup.

Argentina secured their spot in next year’s tournament after a 4-1 win over Brazil earlier this week, leaving many wondering if Messi, now 37, will aim for his sixth World Cup appearance.

“We’ll see what happens. There’s still plenty of time,” Scaloni said. “We need to take it one game at a time. Let’s not drive him crazy with this. He’ll decide when he’s ready.”

Messi missed Argentina’s last two matches against Uruguay and Brazil due to a low-grade adductor muscle injury. The Inter Miami star is currently focused on recovery.
