Selena Gomez Shares Intense Prep for ‘Emilia Pérez’

Published

on

Selena Gomez, the American singer and actress, recently shared insights on how she prepared for her role in the new Spanish musical, “Emilia Pérez”. Gomez revealed that she took a hiatus from music and other commitments to fully immerse herself in the role.

During a Q&A session with the cast at the Telluride Film Festival on September 1, 2024, Gomez explained her dedication to the project. “I put my music and everything else on hold to focus solely on this musical. Each day, I’d wake up and rehearse my lines repeatedly, even calling my Spanish teacher in the middle of the night,” she shared.

In the film, Gomez, 32, portrays the character Jessi Del Monte and described the experience of singing in the movie as “therapeutic.” Netflix unveiled the first trailer for the Spanish-language French film on August 26, highlighting the movie’s genre-defying and audacious storyline, which also features Zoe Saldaña.

As expected, the list also featured big names from the global music scene, with legendary artists like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, and Karol G all making an appearance.
