Grammy-nominated Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti has sparked controversy with his bold statement about Nigerian politicians and the afterlife.

Kuti, speaking during an Instagram Live session, expressed his disbelief that despite their widespread corruption, many Nigerian politicians still aspire to reach heaven. He specifically pointed to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who is also a pastor.

In a passionate outburst, Kuti said, “Despite how corrupt Nigerian politicians are, they still want to make heaven. Yemi Osinbajo is also a pastor. With everything that is happening in this country, these politicians still want to go to heaven.”

He went further to make his point clearer, saying, “If I die and the Christian and Muslim fantasy heaven happens to be true, and I see one single Nigerian politician in heaven, I will go outside. Because that would mean that there’s corruption in heaven.”

In a statement released on Monday via its official X account, DOGE explained that the Treasury Access Symbol (TAS) field was previously optional for these payments, which made tracking nearly impossible.

The TAS field is a crucial identification code that links Treasury payments to specific budget line items.

DOGE mentioned that following its intervention over the weekend, the TAS field is now a mandatory requirement for Treasury payments.

The White House clarified on Monday that Elon Musk’s role in the Trump administration is as a senior adviser to the president, not as an official employee of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

A filing from Joshua Fisher, the director of the White House’s Office of Administration, confirmed that Musk does not have decision-making power and can only offer advice or relay the president’s directives.

Fisher’s filing, part of a case against Musk filed by the State of New Mexico, emphasized that Musk is not employed by the US DOGE Service, nor does he hold the title of DOGE Service Administrator.

The filing also stressed that, like other senior White House advisors, Musk lacks the formal authority to make government decisions on his own.
