Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on stakeholders to prioritize quality education for the girl child, urging them to move beyond gender-based barriers.

Speaking at the International Conference on Girl Child Education in Nigeria, held in Abuja, Shettima emphasized that stakeholders, including government officials, traditional leaders, and civil society, must unite to ensure access to education for all Nigerian children, especially girls.

Shettima highlighted the importance of community involvement in policy-making and stressed the need to raise awareness about the risks girls face if denied education, particularly in health matters. He also appealed to international donors, like the World Bank and African Development Bank, to contribute to this cause. The Vice President warned that failing to educate girls today will have severe consequences for the nation, urging creative solutions to tackle the issue of out-of-school children.

“No, I don’t think many people will blame the Tinubu administration for what is happening now because President Donald Trump, when he first made the threats, it was clearly not in coordination with the Tinubu administration or the government of Nigeria,” Jega said.
