Stella Damasus Opens Up on the Accent Barrier Facing Nigerian Actors in Hollywood
Nollywood Actress Stella Damasus speaks on the reality of Nigerian actors getting a role in Hollywood, she describes it as a challenge.
The actress reveals that Hollywood looks for a particular type of accent from Africans when it comes to getting roles on their shows.
“Hollywood filmmakers insist that there is a particular accent that Africans who want to act in their industry must have. So, that’s why they forced our people to put it on.”
“I’m like, we [Nigerians] don’t sound like that, maybe one or two small countries in East Africa. I’m Nigerian, they are Ghanaians. We are different people and we all sound different. We [Nigerians] don’t sound like this. That’s what Hollywood wants. That’s what they are used to.”
Nigerian reality star and actor Adeoluwa Okusaga, also known as Saga, shares that kissing scenes on screen are not something actors actually enjoy.
The actor shared in a recent interview that kissing is usually scripted and often has no real emotion attached to it.
“It is not easy to kiss another actor. It is weird. I have not really had any good onscreen kiss. It is weird having people invade your mouth with saliva.
“It is not something we enjoy. People think we enjoy it, but we don’t. We are just doing it for the story most times. If I had my way, I won’t kiss anyone in a film… There was a day I kissed four different girls on set.”
Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh speaks on her failed marriage and the truth behind it. It can be noted that the actress was previously married to Churchill.
The actress revealed that she was the one who paid for their wedding, stating that she even paid for his outfit.
She also shared that while she was pregnant, she still handled the wedding expenses alone.

It can be noted that she is leaving earlier than planned, and it can be recalled that the singer recently got emotional on stage amid a breakup caused by cheating from her boyfriend.
The singer announced her exit on social media to her fans: “Unfortunately, my last performance on Moulin Rouge! The Musical will be May 1. It’s been such an honor to be part of Moulin Rouge and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater!”
Many fans expressed disappointment, while others sent her love based on understanding and deemed the breakup unfair to her.
