Ten Hag Wishes to Avoid FC Twente Match
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted he would have preferred not to face FC Twente in the Europa League. The Red Devils will meet the Dutch side on Wednesday night in their opening fixture.
Ten Hag, who spent seven years at Twente during his playing career, revealed his strong connection to the club, making the match emotionally challenging. In a pre-match interview, he said, “I would have preferred to play against someone else. It’s difficult to hurt something you love.” He also acknowledged the ties between Manchester United and Twente, including his assistant Rene Hake, who previously managed the Dutch team.

The captain shared that they are focused on maintaining their reputation as the best team and making Africa proud.

He added “What truly characterizes us is not the error itself, but the bravery to admit it with humility, honesty, and dignity, especially when my children, my family, and all the fans are watching the game.”
