The Man Is an Absolute Superstar – Carragher Praises Lamine Yamal
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher had high praise for Lamine Yamal after Barcelona’s dramatic Champions League semi-final clash with Inter Milan ended in heartbreak for the Spanish side on Tuesday night. Carragher called the young Spain international a “superstar” and said he didn’t deserve to be on the losing side after such an outstanding performance.
Inter took an early 2-0 lead through goals from Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu. But Barcelona responded strongly, with Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo leveling the score, before Raphinha fired them ahead. Inter’s Francesco Acerbi made it 3-3 before the game went into extra time, where Davide Frattesi sealed the win for the Serie A giants.
Speaking on CBS Sports, Carragher couldn’t hide his admiration for Yamal’s impact over both legs, saying the teenager came close to snatching victory in regular time and nearly turned the game around in extra time. He added that one of the biggest disappointments of the final in Munich would be not getting to see Yamal on the grand stage, given how exceptional he’s been throughout the tie.
