Thierry Henry Says Lamine Yamal Could Be Better Than Messi and Ronaldo in the Future
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has hinted that Barcelona’s young star, Lamine Yamal, could one day surpass the greatness of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 17-year-old winger wowed fans and pundits alike with a dazzling performance in Barcelona’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-final first leg at Camp Nou. Yamal, who has already featured in 100 games for the club, boasts an impressive record of 22 goals and 33 assists—an outstanding stat for a teenager.
Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher, speaking after the match, compared watching Yamal to seeing Messi at his peak. But Henry went even further, saying football always finds a way to surprise us. “You think no one can be better than Messi or Ronaldo,” he said. “Back in my day it was Pele or Maradona. Then someone like Yamal shows up.”
