Tinubu Orders Release of Detained Minors from Recent Protests, Calls for Investigation
President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Attorney General of the Federation to take urgent action to secure the release of minors currently held by the Nigeria Police following recent protests.
His directive emphasizes that the children should be freed as quickly as possible, while still respecting any ongoing legal proceedings.
Additionally, Tinubu has tasked the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs with overseeing the safe return of these minors to their families.
This includes arranging appropriate support to ensure their transition home is handled carefully.
The Ministry’s involvement signals the government’s commitment to address any harm experienced during the minors’ detention.
To understand the situation more fully, an investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the prolonged detention of these children.
The aim is to examine how the youths were held for so long and whether procedures were followed lawfully.
