Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has admitted that he regrets not making more signings in the summer transfer window.

The Premier League champions have faced a tough start to the season, with injuries playing a significant part in their struggles.

Reflecting on his decision, Guardiola now believes it was a mistake to not strengthen the squad earlier.

In the summer, Guardiola turned down the chance to sign new players, saying he trusted his current squad. He felt the team could continue to perform at a high level without further additions, relying on the return of Ilkay Gündogan and the signing of young talent Savinho.

However, as injuries have mounted, Guardiola now sees that a more proactive approach in the transfer market would have been wise.

“I always said in the summer that the club considered it, but I insisted, ‘No, I don’t want any signings,’” Guardiola explained.

“I believed in the team, and I thought we could do it again with these players. But after the injuries, I see now that maybe we should have done more,” he added.

Piers Morgan, the outspoken British broadcaster and lifelong Arsenal fan, has called on the club to make a bold move in the January transfer window by signing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Morgan urged Arsenal to “break the bank” for the Swedish forward, who he believes is currently the best striker in Europe.

“Aubameyang was a world-class striker with an incredible record at Arsenal,” Morgan said. “Yes, Arsenal moved on from him, but who did they bring in to replace him?”

Morgan, who has frequently called for the club to sign a top-tier striker, went on to say, “It’s time to stop being calm and polite about this – we need a proper striker, and we need one now! To win major trophies, Arsenal must be ruthless and go after the best players available.”
