Tragic Tanker Explosion Claims 86 Lives in Niger State
The Niger State Emergency Management Agency has confirmed the heartbreaking loss of 86 lives following the devastating tanker explosion at Dikko Junction in Gurara Local Government Area.
Abdullahi Baba Arah, the Director-General of NSEMA, shared that the victims’ bodies were recovered and given a proper burial.
Out of the total, 80 were buried in a mass grave within the premises of Dikko Primary Health Care Center.
Five families were able to identify and claim the remains of their relatives for burial within the town, while one individual tragically passed away while receiving treatment at the Dikko PHC.
The mass burial, which took place between the late hours of 5 p.m. and midnight, was a collective effort led by NSEMA, the Gurara Local Government, and a dedicated team of volunteers who stepped up during this critical time.
