Trump Says No More Pennies as Treasury Halts Production to Save Money
Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has ordered the Treasury to stop making new penny coins, citing the move as a way to cut unnecessary government spending.
“For years, we’ve been minting pennies that cost more than two cents to produce. It’s a complete waste!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account while heading back to Washington from the Super Bowl.
He emphasized his commitment to reducing wasteful expenses, saying, “I’ve directed the Treasury Secretary to halt penny production. It’s time to trim the fat from our nation’s budget—even if it’s one penny at a time.”
It has been recorded that UNICEF has noted that Nigeria is the country with the highest number of children who have not received vaccines.
The organisation shared that especially children in urban areas are not accessible to vaccines, and this affects the numbers in Nigeria and the health of children.
“Today’s event is more than a launch. It is a shared political and moral commitment to the right of every Nigerian child to life-saving vaccines, regardless of where they are born or live.”
They shared the importance of the vaccine.
