US Approves $385 Million Arms Sale to Taiwan Amid Rising Tensions with China
The United States has approved $385 million in arms sales to Taiwan, including spare parts for F-16 fighter jets, radar systems, and tactical communications equipment, according to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).
The $320 million package for F-16s and radar systems is expected to enhance Taiwan’s defense capabilities, with deliveries starting in 2025.
A separate $65 million deal includes support for a tactical communications system. Both sales were approved by the State Department and notified to Congress.
Despite no formal diplomatic ties, the US remains Taiwan’s largest arms supplier.
Taiwan’s defense ministry expressed gratitude, highlighting the boost to its air defense and combat readiness. This marks the 18th arms deal to Taiwan under President Joe Biden’s administration.
China, which considers Taiwan its territory, condemned the sale. Meanwhile, Taiwan reported increased Chinese military activity near the island, detecting aircraft, naval vessels, and balloons within 24 hours. The developments underscore growing tensions in the Taiwan Strait.

‘Government Prioritizes Money More’ — PDP Calls Out FG On New Tax Law
It has been shared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is calling on the federal government to suspend the tax law set to take effect on January 1, 2026.
This was revealed in a statement released by Ini Ememobong, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP. He stated that this new law shows how Nigerians and the masses will be affected, arguing that the government is prioritizing finance over security and other pressing matters.
“Rather than address these issues comprehensively, the Presidency has consciously minimized them and instead insisted that the commencement date must stand, despite the discrepancies,” the party said, adding that this “clearly shows where the priority of the government lies between Nigerians and money.”

Analyst Says Tinubu Not Responsible for Recent U.S.-Linked Airstrike Claims
Nigerian news analyst, Mahmud Jega, has shared his opinion on the recent airstrike carried out by the United States in Nigeria, stating that Nigerians should not blame President Bola Tinubu for the incident.
Jega made this statement during a recent interview, where he said he does not believe many people will hold the Tinubu administration responsible, as Donald Trump had issued threats against Nigeria long before Tinubu’s administration.
“No, I don’t think many people will blame the Tinubu administration for what is happening now because President Donald Trump, when he first made the threats, it was clearly not in coordination with the Tinubu administration or the government of Nigeria,” Jega said.
