USA to Face Nigeria in Women’s Basketball Quarter-Finals at Paris Olympics
The USA will face Nigeria in the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics women’s basketball competition on Wednesday, August 7.
Nigeria, the first African nation to reach the last eight of an Olympic basketball tournament, will now face the reigning champions USA, who have won the last seven titles.
This match-up follows Nigeria’s 79-70 victory over Canada and the USA’s 87-68 win against Germany. In other quarter-final matches, France will play Germany, Spain will take on Belgium, and Serbia will face Australia.
It has been reported that Bola Ahmed Tinubu was absent at the commissioning of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge, which took place on April 8, 2026.
However, Senate President Godswill Akpabio represented the President and carried out the ceremony.
As he commissioned the project, he stated “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I commission these projects.”

Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and expect heavy traffic during these periods.
